Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Dean W — 29 Jan 2012
Still shocking and touching story of two misfits in the big apple that (ahem) "find each other" amid the decaying swinging 60's. The stark sexuality, gritty realism and decay of New York in 1969 is remarkably well documented.
The relationship between Joe and Rizzo goes beyond bromance, and can be safely said to be homosexual (by nature anyway). Some funny moments between the two, a sad ending and some jarring (if dated) montages make this the best film to win best motion picture Oscar of the 60's by a mile.
