Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Jared H — 23 Jul 2012
As much I appreciate the two awesome performances, especially from John Voight, who really becomes this character in a truly amazing and impressive way, I have to say that at times this movie was a little rough to sit through.
It seems like it's a victim of the time when it was made, when psychedelic twists and turns in movies we're trendy, regardless of whether they made the movie better. It's a simple and interesting story, and I like its simplicity, but instead of embracing it, the writers and the director meandered into unnecessarily weird territory that made me wish the film would just hurry up.
Great performances though.
