Review of Midnight Cowboy (1969) by Bill S — 24 Sep 2014
Nothing at all like expected - it takes some nice turns and adds up to something refreshing, original and interesting. A great pace and a constant motion makes it easy to enjoy. It's constant development is maybe the best feature of the film. You never know what to expect, and for a classic of this calibre it's pretty unique.
It's got weirder moments, sadder moments and some funnier ones. I like the weirder ones best, like the party. It's close to bizzarre, trippy and creepy. Super. I really, really like the dreams that comes here and then - it lifts the movie a lot, and makes the film's main themes a lot easier to catch. A brilliant touch!
Well acted by the two leads, I can't decide witch one of them doing the best job, they are both delivering one of their best performances. A brave film, certainly ahead of it's time.
8.5 out of 10 radios.
