Review of Micmacs (2009) by Fonda D — 14 Mar 2010
Saw this film during SXSW 2010. An enjoyable and especially visually entertaining comedy movie by the director of "Delicatessen" and "Amelie." A man seeks to bring down two illegal arms manufacturers who were responsible for the deaths of his parents, the loss of his employment and home, and the unremovable bullet lodged in his head.
The set pieces and most of the movie plays out like "The Sting" with the particular visual stylings, settings, and misfit and quirky characters found in Jeunet's earlier movies. The film perhaps some of the tension and complexity of Jeunet's earlier movies, but nonetheless was enjoyable.
