Review of Micmacs (2009) by Peter L — 23 Apr 2010
"Micmacs", the latest comedy from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the director of "Amelie", is a delightful story about a video store clerk (played by Dany Boon) who brings justice to two weapons manufacturers responsible for the death of his father and the stray bullet lodged in his brain.
If you liked "Amelie", you'll also appreciate the gorgeous visual style, the appearances of familiar actors in new roles, and the new games and tricks that the clerk and his band of eccentric friends play on the bad guys.
While the film can get too silly at times and the romance between the clerk and the contortionist wasn't as well developed, overall I enjoyed this wacky film with its homages to Chaplin and Tex Avery cartoons.
