I wish more directors had the whimsy and artistic eye of Jean-Pierre Jenuet, I also wish he would allow others to write his films. Micmacs is just as fanciful as Amelie but with more intrigue like an Ocean's 11.
The problem is the main character didn't do much for me to invest in him. I wanted to see how his plan was going to work out and it was fun to see the junkyard crew use all their gadgets, but in the end I didn't have the passion he had against the weapons manufacturers.
It's a cute movie that I would definitely suggest people rent.
