Review of Micmacs (2009) by Amanda R — 06 Jul 2010
If your not a fan of Jeunets work ,then there is nothing in this film to help you change your view of him.
But if like me you enjoy the directors work (Yes even that terrible Aliens movie ) Then you will love his latest comedy.
At its core is a revenge movie when Bazil (Played by Danny Boon who is huge in France) decides to get his own back on the arms dealers who robbed him of his life.
Of course this being Jeunet he is helped by some terrific off the wall characters who live in a junkyard including a flexible love interest and of course Juenet regular Dominique Pinon as a Human Cannonball.
Through a series of hilarious revenge tatics they mess with the arms dealers and play them off against each other.
The film is of course a visual treat with animation the music of Max Steiner and references to Chaplin,Tati et al.
Its not the great work that Ameile still reamains ,but there is plenty to enjoy here and that I guess is the biggest plus point.
