Review of Micmacs (2009) by Sandy K — 24 Apr 2011
The director is a craftsman, but his comic book whimsy doesn't feel right for the thematic and as a result the visual gags that worked so well in Amelie were often flat. Entertaining, but ultimately toothless - Jeunet peaked this stylie with Amelie (and suggested that he wasn't an auteur), so he now needs to work in a different environment or show me something else.
