Review of Micmacs (2009) by Edward C — 08 May 2011
Considering the bland, empty shenanigans of the Hollywood action-adventure blockbuster I am completely unsympathetic toward complaints that Micmacs is flawed for not having more depth. And, really, what American film would dare to suggest that arms manufacturers deserve to be humiliated and punished? This isn't the stuff of Iron Man.
At any rate, this isn't a naturalistic drama of politics and political correctness. It's a visually witty fable of, first and foremost, finding a place in the world. It's delightfully pushed along by outstanding comedic performances from Dany Boon and company.
It has style, flare, and wit to burn.
