Review of Mickey Blue Eyes (1999) by Cj A — 06 Sep 2007
I'm back and forth on this movie. It has it's charm, and admittedly can be quite entertaining. It's probably that I can't make up my mind on Hugh Grant. I have appreciated him in films like About a Boy and Notting Hill, but for some reason he leaves me with this "I'm not supposed to really like him" feeling. This film is all about him though, and would be a good case study on his charm and likeability.
The premise sets itself up for some decent laughs, and it's executed well. It's tough not to admit Grant's on screen chemistry here, and in the end while you may not care to own it, it is worth an initial watch.
