Review of Mickey Blue Eyes (1999) by Alyson C — 15 May 2008
Fohgeddaboutit! It makes me laugh whenever he says that... Yeah. I like Hugh Grant movies as a general rule. This one applies too, though I can't say it's my favourite. Though it has its moments (okay, mostly just a moment - the mobsters' lunch at the restaurant, and that ATROCIOUS accent - "Geddouddaheeee"), there's noticable spaces between all the big laughs.
There's still little giggles, but... let's just say it's not as continually funny as some of his other movies (e.g. Music and Lyrics). Mobster hierarchy and politics are a little hard to follow, especially when everyone's name rhymes with everyone else's.
But it's definitely worth the watch - enjoy it the first time around, because I have the feeling that it's one of those movies that loses something with each subsequent viewing... but that should be about it.
The The End.
