Review of Michael Collins (1996) by Lee M — 01 Oct 2007
Liam Neeson and Alan Rickman are amazingly compelling as usual, and their performances are almost good enough to completely overlook Julia Roberts' wretched accent. Michael Collins helps reveal a bit about the Irish struggle for independence and identity and the resulting horrors of this warfare.
On an entertainment level, this movie provides great drama. On a historical level, I'm not sure how accurate it is, and it certainly is all about Irish pride, taking a one-sided point of view. Overall, Michael Collins is definitely a movie worth watching for Neeson and Rickman alone.
