A really good, densely layered and intelligent suspense thriller dealing with themes of morals in law. Nothing exceptionally groundbreaking, but done really well and will succeed and grasping your attention through the films 2 hour run time.

I'm not really the biggest fan of mainstream films and those who make them but George Clooney has been consistently surprising me throughout his career and I am always curious to see the movies he's in.

He delivers a wonderfully subtle and sombre performance here that fits the tone of the film as a whole perfectally. Tom Wilkinson was the standout performance here, as the morally conflicted manic depressive who has finally gone over the edge.

Tony Gilray has succeeded in making a good "food for thought" type of film but I did think that the film was a little too dense for it's own good, resulting in a movie that has a lot of depth, tension and style, but ultimately is bound to intimidate some viewers.

While I did enjoy this it was at times difficult to follow and keep track of, but that could be solved through repeated viewings. Time will tell on that one, but for what it is, this is definently an above average movie that I would recommend for somebody who wants to see something that actually has substance.
