Review of Michael Clayton (2007) by Colin H — 30 Jun 2010
Boy this is a hard one to write a review for!
Honestly, I don't fully remember the entire story; the film is entirely plot driven, very somber and slow paced, but my overall impressions are that the film is moody, grey and bleak, yet written well for some to become completely immersed. Having a long-ish attention span, I was able to become immersed.
Michael Clayton, played by George Clooney and doing remarkably well not being "George Clooney", (as best he can anyway!) is a law firm's best "fixer", who finds himself deep in a company's multi-million dollar scheme. Clayton is a troubled individual dealing with life's hardships as he takes on one of the biggest challenges in a career he is sick of.
Difficult to review, but a film for those who enjoy intellectual, real storytelling. A film which relies on characters and story rather than chases and action. Me personally... I enjoyed watching it, but as I've forgotten most of it, it remains quite average.
