Review of Michael Clayton (2007) by Ruhan R — 16 Jun 2011
Michael Clayton was what critics call a corporate thriller. I think that a large part of this film's appeal was the setting. Anyone who idealizes big city life will easily be enchanted by the fancy suits & cars, big buildings and posh law offices.
This was not the case for me. When you really analyze it, the plot wasn't all that complex. Tony Gilroy just knew how to dress it up with his cinematography. The soundtrack and lighting were major contributors to this masquerade.
Acting was definitely a strong point in this film. I think that Tom Wilkinson really stole the spotlight with his performance as a the deranged Arthur Edens. Overall it was an all right watch but not extraordinary to me.
