Review of Michael (2011) by Dennis R — 26 May 2012
It's most likely an understatement to suggest that Michael is an acquired taste; it's highly disturbing, extremely slow paced, gives the audience very little to go and has a fairly open-ended ending.
Which, of course, is exactly why I responded to it so well. Schleinzer is clearly a student of Haneke in that his film is restrained, concerns itself with the highly unnerving side of humanity and offers no easy answers.
Michael is horribly suspenseful and intelligent film, all held together by Michael Fuith's brilliant performance as the titular character.
