Review of Miami Vice (2006) by Emil K — 04 Mar 2009
This is totally misunderstood masterpiece from director genius Michael Mann. Miami Vice is pure visual art. With outstandind photography by Dion Beebe this film is easily the most gorgeous work from Mann with colour palette so beautiful that it is just stunning to look at from start to finnish.
This one is shot on DV like Collateral and the grainy and handheld look of film fits perfectly making it more documentary-like and those breathtaking shots of Miami at the night-time look almost like paintings.
Miami Vice is story of lonely souls trying to survive in the cold and ruthless criminal-world. It is also a work of artist at the peak of his career, touching love story and one of the most gorgeous films ever made.
