It's not Bad Boys, and that's the Point.

It's a Michael MANN film, not Bay. This was made for people who think. No formula here. What's the formula? Well; Martin Lawrence, Will Smith be funny; car chase. Martin Lawrence, Will Smith be funny; Gun Fight and on and on. None of that crap that worked when I was 13. Again, it's a Michael Mann film. This is serious! This is as real as hanging out with undercover cops is gonna get. Unless you're a real undercover cop. Everything in this film is based on reality. No time for jokes here people. That being said, is this necessarily Entertainment. Not Really.

It's the ultimate film experience. Keyword being 'experience' Here's this world; in this case, The world of undercover cops. What would that be like? What would it feel like to live a lie? What would it feel like to be an actor; and know that if you break character, you're dead? Talk about method acting.

This is not the 80's show I loved when I was 5-years-old. This is a mature and intelligent film. Made for smart viewers who think. I'm all for escaping from our busy lives to have a little fun watching a movie, but I don't want to see Martin Lawrence tripping ecstasy. I want an 'Experience', and that's what Michael Mann delivers here. So if you watch this? Make sure you pay close attention. You're Undercover with Crockett & Tubbs. Whenever something happens to them? You're right there with them, Undercover.

There's nothing wrong with watching Martin Lawrence trip ecstasy. Or, even watching old Mel Gibson and Danny Glover take on Jet Li, in fight they would never win in reality. Maybe they'll take on Tony Jaa in Lethal Weapon part 28. A piece of me enjoys that stuff too. I think its the piece of myself that enjoys riding a bike. We all love riding bikes right?
