Review of Miami Vice (2006) by Matthew S — 03 Jul 2010
Not a copy of the 80s iconic series, but an interesting look at undercover drug police ops. Sleek, sexy and full of expensive toys, this updated version of Miami Vice does a decent update to the 80s series.
I have watched it several times, the movie has an allure that keeps me coming back. The U-Control feature is pretty cool. Mann loves going on location and the PiP on his location shots is interesting.
Wilipedia has lots of information on the movie. Foxx was a prima donna and Farrell had to go into rehab after the movie. The on location shots were dangerous. Besides the wonderful scenery, the music is a big asset to the movie.
Rock, techno and Latino music co-star in this movie set in the tropics. While Miami Vice probably is not for everyone, the story line is a little disjointed, it at least tries to please most with its love story, element of danger, expensive toys and exotic locations.
