Director Michael Mann has had incredible hits. Public Enemies, The Kingdom, Collateral, The Insider, Ali - the list is indeed impressive. However Miami Vice, I would say is the worst in the list of movies he has directed.

Now for those of you who are of this generation may not know what Miami Vice is all about - so here is a brief intro.

Miami Vice was an American television crime drama series produced by Michael Mann for NBC. The series starred Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas as James "Sonny" Crockett and Ricardo "Rico" Tubbs respectively, two Metro-Dade Police Department detectives working undercover in Miami. The series ran for five seasons on NBC from 1984-1989.

Now Miami Vice the movie is about two Miami police detectives, Crockett and Tubbs played by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx who go undercover to fight drug trafficking operations. And the film is written, produced, and directed by Michael Mann.

So how did this movie turn out?

Michael Mann tried to make this movie Cold and Bloody with the tension & intensity right from the start. But here is where the problem lay - the Character introduction was not done and neither was the format of the storyline played as if it were a brand new movie. I think the director assumed people would just connect to both the characters and relive the Series so to speak. In the end, it just became an ordinary script of 2 cops who had an assignment and had to finish off the bad guys. And no, the characters didn't leave the impact that was required.

Moment of Truth.

Not the best of what Michael Mann could offer. You would get bored to death in many places.
