Review of Miami Vice (2006) by Harryp. — 30 Jul 2006
I don't understand what all the grumbling is about with this movie. It was tightly plotted, well crafted, filmed magnificently and avoided completely all the schlock associated with the original TV series.
This was supposed to be a loose adaptation of the TV series, not some cheap paint by numbers retread. Its originality, cinematography and tension (especially during the last 45 minutes or so) make this a welcome addition to the Mann canon - I would only put Thief, Heat and the totally underrated The Insider higher on the list.
