Review of Metropolitan (1990) by Jd H — 01 Aug 2008
I love this film. I probably saw it the first time in 1991 or 1992 and still enjoy watching it now and again. I love the atmosphere of New York at Christmastime, I love the dialogue that's focused on the relationships between the characters, although the sociological discussions wear thin pretty quickly.
But most of all, it's a great film because Audrey Rouget is such a touching character, in love with the clueless Tom Townsend. I get weepy at the scene where Audrey is crying in St. Thomas's church during Midnight Mass.
