Review of Metallica: Through the Never (2013) by Frank P — 11 Oct 2013
The concert performance of metallica was absolutely great and the sound quality was such a great way to hear metallica and if this was all there was to this film as a concert performance film then I would've given it 5 stars but it only gets 4 because 25% of the film was this storyline of a roadie of the band that has to go get something but the audience never really finds out what it is which really sucked.
On top of all that, the storyline took some weird French, artsy fartsy turn and got into some weird storytelling moments and really surreal, nothing against surrealism which I'm a fan of but the clear influence of French artsy films is what doomed the storyline because if it was more clear and concise with the surrealism, it would've been a great concert performance story movie, but alas it was not.
A great attempt but just flawed in the storytelling part of it....the metallica performance was completely on point and so worth the cost of admission.
