Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Macdara C — 29 Jul 2010
SUMMARY: This is a documentary of the all time awesome band Metallica during the creation of the "St. Anger" album.
POSITIVES: I love these rockumentaries. I'll fall asleep on a normal documentary, but give me a good topic and im gonna watch tha whole dang thing (This one was 2 hours and 30 minutes). This is so far the best documentary I have ever seen. I felt like I was part of Metallica during their production of the St Anger album. I liked how they showed the conflict between James (who I now consider the band's bully) and Lars (the dude who seems like he nevr grew up lol). My favorite part of the whole experience was wen they were searching for a new bassist after Jason Newsted.
IMPROVEMENT: I was enjoying and enjoying this film and then like 2 hours into it I felt like this entire thing was complete acting..which made me mad. Its highly possible this film was all acting with some real footage too.
OVERALL: Great movie, especially for the Metallica fans! 4 songs from the "St. Anger" album outta 5 (Frantic, St. Anger, Some Kind of Monster and Sweet Amber).
