Review of Metallica: Some Kind of Monster (2004) by Suzan Suzi G — 29 Sep 2010
Not at all a typical rockumentary in that it's more about the band members as people than about the band and its music. Or, rather it is less focused on the music than it is on the process of making an album.
And contrary to their image, the guys in the band are actually introspective, sensitive guys. Plus I can totally relate to the insecurity and self-deprecation involved in songwriting. Metallica is not the most ingenious band around, but the band members as real people make this movie good.
The only real criticism I have is that it runs a little long.
