Review of Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (2005) by Kevin H — 19 May 2010
Hands down the greatest piece of documentary work I have EVER seen, not just because of the subject matter (come on, METAL guys!), but of the deep insights and behind the scene details that maintain the viewer's interest throughout the entire length of the doco, with some hilarious moments thrown in.
The culture of metal is explored to terrifying depths, with some dark moments explored (suicide, burning churches), but it's not all doom and gloom, with some standout interviews from massive figures such as Cannibal Corpse, Angela Gossow (only the hottest metal singer in the business), Sabbath, Maiden and Dio (RIP).
Pick up a copy and watch it. Metal is not a culture to be looked over lightly. It's here, and it's massive.
