Review of Message in a Bottle (1999) by Iris R — 14 Mar 2009
OK, so I LOVE the book...and this was pretty different. A lot of little things, like how much Theresa confided in the rest of the Tribune staff, and how everyone seemed to be helping with the research.
I think it's a wonderful love story, but the book is infinitely better. Like the book, the movie's ending is tragic. But they left out the most heartfelt-worded part of the book, the last three paragraphs.
They weren't dialogue, so I can understand how they really couldn't convey that in the movie. But that's the part in the book that made me cry. And Theresa's letter. Oh, and Paul Newman was fantastic! :).
