Review of Mesrine: Public Enemy #1 (2008) by Tom M — 21 Jan 2010
Part 2 I thought was equally as good as part 1. He became more of a celebrity, wich tended to hinder him. He still kept his ways as a 'gentalmanly' gangster. Vincent Cassel again really good as Mesrine with a good, if not 'short' preformance by Mathieu Amalric as François Besse. There prison break was one of my favouite parts of part 2. Also I thought Ludivine Sagnier as Sylvie Jeanjacquot was really good, possibly the best prefomance as one (of many) of Mesrine's lovers.
All in all, an epic gangster flick with slight elaments of some of the classics. I am pretty tempted to check out this legendry gangster figure a bit more after wathing these. One of the best subtiteled films I have ever seen (parts 1 & 2). Defanantly worth a watch!
