Review of Mesrine: Public Enemy #1 (2008) by Andrew M — 04 Jul 2010
A solid follow up to Mesrine: Killer Instinct, this second part eschews the character building and attempts to explain Jacques Mesrine, and jumps straight into the action. Boht films are fairly conventional in their structure, but who cares about originality when everything comes together so well.
Cassel's central performance is superb, and many Hollywood directors who've lost their way recently (I don't want to name names, but Michael Mann) should look this over.
