These guys were truly tough. They did not complain as they endured around-the-clock hardship that left them frost bit and with trenchfoot as their seven day planned climb stretched into 20 days required to summit the Sharks Fin of Mt.
Meru of the Himalayas. These guys never backed down; although, in the later days they were emaciated, dehydrated and running low on fuel. After failing on their first attempt and after one of the climbers (Renan) recovered from a terrible skull crushing skiing accident they attempted Meru again three years later.
They twice risked their lives on a truly epic mountaineering big wall climb under horrible conditions without Sherpas, oxygen bottles, staged supplies or prepositioned ropes. A perfect executed documentary with amazing cinematography and great narration that wasn't ruined by suspenseful build-ups and dramatic narration.
After the movie I understood what made them elite climbers and appreciated their tough but humble spirits.
