Review of Mephisto (1981) by Chris S — 29 Oct 2015
A political fable about what it implies to sell your soul for success with no consideration for the greater scheme, it construct a caracter who, even though he is annoyingly vain, the viewer cant reject him.
His obliviousness is not depicted as stupididty but commitment to another goal. The directing and writing emphasize all the right points, ands its well paced for such a heavy topic that could have crumbled under its own weight.
