Review of Men, Women & Children (2014) by Cole J — 02 Oct 2014
I've always been a fan of jason reitman, ive liked all his films except young adult so I was looking forward to seeing this, i'll give that it definitely hits on how communication these days is dominated by texting and social media, my generation essentially, and it also captures well lots of other more timeless emotions, like teenage romance and the nervousness that is associated with it, I was definitely able to empathize with a lot of the scenes in it, some are pretty hard to watch, especially the ones pertaining to anorexia, both the physical effects and the chat rooms that exist and encourage it, I will say tho that the film tries to pack too many stories into it, and as a result a lot come off undeveloped or not really resolved at the end, the acting is all good, sandler does well in a dramatic role, and all the teens were believable, garner tho was an absolute bitch, god I hated her character so much, so is it flawed? yes, but id still recommend it, especially to those around my age who will probably relate to many aspects of it.
