Review of Men, Women & Children (2014) by Dan H — 21 Oct 2014
American Beauty meets Her. A commentary on the current state of our society and how technology affects society today. It's a dark, depressing film whose main message seems to be that technology is crippling us and our over-reliance on technology is affecting our ability to make powerful, meaningful, long-lasting connections.
It's true that it does kind of feel like the film is standing on a soapbox but I still really liked the film. Every actor here does a great job (Ansel Elgort, Adam Sandler, Jennifer Garner, Rosemarie DeWitt, Judy Greer, Kaitlyn Dever, Travis Tope, and Emma Thompson are all superb) and the film will make you want to chuck your computer or phone into the garbage by the time it ends.
A scary, sad, and realistic portal of modern society.
