Review of Men, Women & Children (2014) by Jessica T — 31 Dec 2014
The opening suggests that director Jason Reitman is trying to understand human behaviour on a cosmic scale. Which doesn't really make sense. The film as a whole can never make up its mind as to whether this is a story about the men, women and children of the title or about the place of humans within the greater context of the cosmic universe.
There are some great performances from a high profile cast, but they cannot rise above the material which is trying to be profound, but just treads on overly familiar ground and without any particular finesse.
