The movie is the life story of Carl Brashear, the first black to enter the diving school. His strength of will is inspiring. De Niro, as "Billy" Sunday is also very good. He plays the part of an experienced Navy diver who is at the top of his game.
Carl Brashear lets nothing stand in the way of his dreams. This film showed incredible courage and determination displayed in what almost seems unreal circumstances. Based on a true story, the determination and persistence of Carl in the midst of all the cards and people stacked against him, shows true integrity, determination and courage as he sets a goal he vows to fulfill whatever the cost may be.
