Review of Men in Black II (2002) by Mackenzie D — 14 May 2012
Although it is rather entertaining as its a unique film, the overall quality of the film isn't to much of a high standard. Lacklustre is a word I'd deffinatly use. Being on the rather short side of 1 and a half hours (which is a good thing) Men In Black II starts, continues and ends all at the same consistent pace.
Nothing too special about the way it's shot and special effects even lack in this film. The dog is very needless. Will Smith is great though as is Tommy Lee Jones but the villains are very awful. I'm not sure if it's ever revealed why they are taking over MIB other than a long grudge that's never explained as to why that took place over than it did.
As far as the woman and love interest goes she is pointless. Acted very badly and I never really cared or believed her and J liked each other let alone loved. If your looking for a great in depth pure quality film this isn't it.
If your looking for a Friday night fun alien CGI blast then again this isn't really it. Like I said before its lacklustre. Turn to the first Men In Black and leave this one. It's ok and has fun parts, never gets boring but it's very 'meh'.
