Review of Men in Black II (2002) by Liam P — 29 Oct 2013
Barry Sonnenfeld's followup to the groundbreaking Men In Black fails to meet any of the expectation and is so void of content and coherent storytelling that it hardly qualifies as a complete movie.
Will Smith and Timmy Lee Jones are solid and the rest of the cast is alright, but the script is just so terrible that there was little they could do to salvage it. The plot is essentially the exact same as the first film with a slight twist and the animation.
.. Oh, the animation... For a movie specifically catering to sci-fi fans that has a considerable budget, there is no excuse for how bad the special effects are. Bottom line, if you've seen the first and love the characters, then you might find something to like here.
.. But other than that, I'd stay away.
