Review of Men in Black 3 (2012) by Knicksfan7 — 25 May 2012

So I was pretty happy with the result of this third installment into what is now the Men in Black trilogy, but it definitely had its flaws. First I wanna start with the positives. Josh Brolin is a superb actor and he definitely showed off his talent in this movie.

Wow did he do an amazing job immitating Tommy Lee Jones or what? Will Smith did his thing of course, being awesome. The story was actually pretty good and entertaining. Despite It being 10 years since the disappointing sequel, it still felt like familiar territory, and after a thousand rewrites and multiple stops in production of the film, it didn't turn out a complete mess, and Jemaine Clement did a memorable job as the villain as well.

The biggest thing I was happy with was that the Men in Black humour was still there. Now onto the negatives. This isn't necessarily a negative but don't bother with the 3D with this film, its totally not worth the extra money, stick to regular.

Now a couple things throughout the film I did not understand and is not very possible to understand. 1. Why is agent J (Will Smith) still an agent if Agent K (Jones) is dead and wasnt alive to recruit him? 2.

If the little boy at the end during the emotional yet rushed twist ending is supposed to be Agent J then shouldn't that make the present day Agent J almost 50 years old assuming that kid is about 6 or so? Now don't get me wrong, i'm not one to point out all of the subtle flaws in films, these were just a couple things that bugged me.

Overall though I thoroughly enjoyed this movie and I thought the ending was the perfect way to end the series, although the film was definitely rushed, i'm just merely stating that while it was a good film, it wasn't perfect.

I give this a 7/10 Definitely go see this movie if you were a fan of the first 2 films, but if you haven't seen the first 2 (who hasn't) then you should give those a watch first otherwise you will be completely lost in this movie.

In the end Men in Black 3, although many issues in the production and 10 years since the last installment, ended up being a score. Not perfect but a great way to end the "trilogy.
