Review of Men in Black 3 (2012) by Dov D — 30 Oct 2013
The final installment of Barry Sonnenfeld's Men In Black trilogy explores new areas while still relying on what made the series so popular. The writing is significantly better than the second, which wasn't hard to improve on, and the acting also stepped up a notch.
There were several plot holes, but that'll always happen with time travel (except in Primer), and a lot of the action was too ridiculous and overly dramatic. It felt like this movie was in a hurry to get from one action sequence to the next at the expense of plot-furthering dialogue.
The effects were much, much better than it's predecessors, which is to be expected since it was made ten years after II. There were far to many puns and bad jokes in this film... Not as much as in two, but far to many, even for a movie like this.
Bottom line, this is an excellent popcorn flick that most people will enjoy. If you've seen the first two and are iffy about seeing this one because of how terrible the second was, you shouldn't be.
