Review of Men in Black (1934) by David B — 13 Nov 2012
Combines the talents of Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and director Barry Sonnenfeld to hilarious, endearing effect. It's so much fun, in fact, that it's almost over before you realize that you've been watching a great idea for a movie in desperate search of a plot.
The plot isn't such a problem, it's a mere second fiddle and it's the brilliant, wacky yet cool special effects that bring the film alive. As I've said, the performance from the cast are great and sometimes never let's the brilliant effects take their place.
To quote the film's wisest alien, who just happens to be occupying the body of an ugly-ass pug dog, 'You don't like it, you can kiss my furry little butt.' It's fun for all the family, though some scenes may disturb youngster.
The film is a great idea and smartly funny, well written, in it's sense but it truly is an entertaining movie and a film I'll watch over and over again. Also proves Tommy Lee Jones has a great scene of humor and great comic timing.
Perfect comedy sci-fi.
