Review of Men in Black (1934) by Michael P — 10 May 2013
I was expecting this film to be a bit better than average, I wasn't expecting too much from this action-comedy; oh how I was wrong. This kind of reminds me of Django Unchained in the sense that it's a good film a lot of people will like, but I especially LOVE IT.
You wouldn't see people put this in their top 50, but I'd definitely consider it. So why do I love this film? Well I love the characters, I know Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith have done greater performances but these are one of the best I've seen by them.
I ESPECIALLY love the tone of the film. It doesn't take itself seriously, it knows it's being absurd, it's a funny movie. I love it as an example of filmmaking. The shots are great, the storytelling's excellent, the script's fantastic.
It's just a well made film with interesting characters in an interesting world.
