Review of Memphis Belle (1990) by Jordan P — 04 May 2010
An adequate film about the famous World War II bomber crew. The directing could have been better. The pacing of the film was fast but it still felt like it was missing something. The ensemble cast seemed great on paper but on screen they just did not seem right together.
Eric Stoltz and Harry Connick Jr. were the two best ones in this film while Matthew Modine seemed miscast as the captain and pilot of the Memphis Belle. Sean Astin was OK but I still see him as Samwise and Rudy.
Still, not a bad film but definitely not even one of the 50 best World War II films I have seen.
