Review of Memphis Belle (1990) by Martin G — 17 Jul 2010
Based on the true story of a WWII bomber crew that survived the hellish raids into Europe, this film is cheesier and more over-wrought than it should have been. Despite a fine cast, none of them could overcome a script that portrayed the characters as cliched stereotypes.
Despite its weaknesses, the story of what these aviators endured is worth knowing, and the sequences of in-air attacks were riveting.
