Review of Memphis Belle (1990) by Seth S — 14 Jul 2012
I feel like hating on a movie for a second, and this movie is pretty hated by me. Oh, the movie isn't terrible, or unwatchable, it just has this heavy sense of below average. The story is not close to the truth, the acting is sub par, the action is cliche and tired, and the feel-good ending left me completely uncaring.
The story is of a B-17 called the Memphis Belle. It is about to go on its 25th mission, after this mission the crew will have enough missions to go home. Some members of the crew are excited, while others are going to miss the war. They run into many, completely made up troubles on their final mission.
The movie does have some decent stars. With Matthew Modine, David Strathairn, John Lithgow, and Sean Astin. But it seems that all of these actors brought their B-game to the table, with nobody being very good.
Overall, I didn't like anything about this movie. It tried hard to be a heart-pounding action movie, but the action isn't special, in any way. Skip this one, unless you are a gluten for punishment.
"I don't want to die." 2.5/10.
