Review of Memories of Murder (2003) by Amy D — 16 May 2008
At first, I wasn't really into this film. Then, somewhere along the 30 minute mark, I realized I was totally hooked! Of you want action and blood, this is not for you.
What struck me most about this film was that the victims were treated like people, not like pieces of meat. There were shots of the bodies, but not long, lingering, gruesome shots. The cops aren't necessarily bad at their jobs; they just can't dissociate their emotions. As a result, neither can the audience.
