Review of Memories of Murder (2003) by Eric H — 24 Aug 2007
Whereas Zodiac fell short in the final stretch, this film delivers to the last moment. Making a film about an unsolved mystery is an exercise in cinematic futility, there can be little resolution and a viewer is generally left hanging with meager satisfaction.
Not this time--creepy, understated, surprisingly humerous and completely enthralling, Bong Joon-ho knows how to juggle a story with such shrewdness that I swear I'll keep buying tickets. Also, the acting is superb.
