The greatest film in Korea's recent surge of internationally acclaimed output, Bong Joon-ho's masterpiece is delicate, ambivalent, funny and ultimately despairing. More than just a serial killer thriller, this is a portrait of a nation at a very particular time in its history; as in 'The Host', the shadow of the United States hangs heavy.
