Review of Memories of Murder (2003) by Alyssa N — 25 Oct 2007
During the first half of this movie, I was convinced it was an unfunny, offensive, and only moderately suspenseful murder mystery. But then it gradually transforms into a dark drama and social commentary, and I realized that the "lighter" beginning only made the revelations more powerful and thought-provoking and the climax more emotionally jarring.
Trust me, it's well worth the time it takes getting there.
