Review of Memories of Murder (2003) by Adesh P — 25 Jun 2011
It's satirical, intriguing, poetic and whimsical- all at the same time and probably much more than that. I also love the beauty and the sense of place it has and the surprisingly low key and a very sparse score.
And by the time it ended it made me experience something that right now I can't articulate in words. And also, at the most fundamental level, I don't really understand this film or it's intentions either.
I don't know why a certain choices were made and if the filmmaker knew in all consciousness what he is doing to me as an audience. It's as elusive as it gets. But I guess even this riddle added a lot to my movie watching experience.
I quite liked it and what it did to me.
