Review of Memories of Murder (2003) by Alexander C — 11 Nov 2012
A really solid, well-crafted mystery thriller. All the acting is great, and Kang-ho Song in particular shows how versatile he is (compare it to his other films). Full of grey areas, of menace, tension, frustration and even comedy (my favourite scene - the one in the field at night with the killer making himself known - is full of all these).
Having said that, I don't think it's the best film ever made, and yet a lot of people are keen to peddle that sentiment. It's very good, but, you know, most Korean films are these days.
